Colonel Ann Wright, retired from the Foreign Service within the US State Department the day before the US invasion of Iraq. Her opposition to the invasion, her concern over a lack of effort in the Israeli-Palestinian process, the lack of policy in regard to North Korea, and the curtailment of civil liberties within the US led to her resignation. Since retirement, Ann Wright has been prominent in the movement opposing the occupation of Iraq, and investigating and speaking against violence within the ranks of the U.S. military.
